How It All Started

Atlas Cohen’s obsession with grotesque and twisted stories began in an ultra-strict troubled teen program in rural Utah. Because horror movies were banned by the staff, Atlas turned to the works of Stephen King and other macabre writers to distract from the horrors of real life. When staff would punish her with isolation from her peers, Atlas turned to her own tragically flawed characters for company. At seventeen, she scrawled out her first short story, Josephine and the Bear. Since then, Atlas has been churning out stories that have her saying “yes, we’re going there”.

Atlas’s Work

So far, Atlas has published one flash fiction under her old pen name, Kay Oakley (redirects to The Yard: Crime Blog). She regularly publishes short stories, flash fiction, and microfiction on this site, as well as blog posts and artwork. Currently, she is working on a queer dark sci-fi novel, Operation Unhinged. Atlas loves to share stories and articles about topics that most people would find too disgusting to talk about. If you find yourself holding your interest back from friends and family for fear of disturbing them, you will find your home here.

Human First Approach

Atlas passionately believes that the beauty of art comes from the hands that created it. Anything that Atlas writes, as well as any other art featured on this site, is human-created. Atlas Cohen will not knowingly create, distribute, or promote any AI-generated content.
